In addition, Microsoft has made SharePoint 2010 and the Office Web Apps 2010 package (which requires a SharePoint Server) available for subscribers of both services.

Currently, two downloads are available at each site: 32-bit (x86) and 64-bit (x64) versions of the Professional Plus Retail edition.

Subscribers to each service get a single product key for the Office 2010 download. If past history holds true, this key can be used to activate two copies: one on a desktop PC, the other on a portable PC that is used by the same person as the desktop PC.

Go is based on the C programming family, one of the most widely used programming language trees in the world. However, the twist is that incorporates elements of Python (a preferred development language within Google) and the Pascal/Modula/Oberon family to make faster and more dynamic programs.

Skype for Linux has always lagged behind in development from its Windows and Mac counterparts and users of certain Linux distributions can have problems installing Skype in part because the client is rarely updated frequently enough to work with the latest kernel iterations. Moreover, because Skype is a proprietary application, it isn’t installed by default in most Linux distributions and finding it in repositories (even multi-verse repositories) can be difficult.

Skype makes a point to mention “an open source UI” — which makes us think that it will just be the GUI libraries that will be open sourced, not any of the underlying VoIP or communications libraries. In other words, it might be easier for the Gnome or KDE teams to integrate Skype into the existing X-Windows platforms, but the base of what makes Skype work will still be closed off.

Version 3.0 most definitely brings improvements to the interface and is certainly much faster compared to its earlier incarnations. The 3.0 is lightening fast, with a 150 percent jump in Java script performance over the original beta and 25 percent jump over the most recent one.

New features include customisible tab pages where you can simply drag and drop to rearrange the thumbnails on the homepage. You can also opt for a ‘list’ view or hide the naughty pages that you don’t want (or don’t want others) to see. The new and more convenient Omnibox is loaded with features that show you whether the listed items come from searches, bookmarks or sites. HTML 5 will let you embed videos much more easily and you won’t need to install any extra plug-ins to play videos. You can also play around with the 30 new customisable themes to give your Chrome browser the look of your choice.

Firefox has 23 percent and Apple’s Safari browser has 4 percent. Chrome is still number 4 in the market share of 2.8 percent but the new version would in all probability double that number.
